Ferro silicon Description
Ferro silicon is used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the
steel industry. In order to obtain qualified steel and ensure the
quality of steel, deoxidation must be carried out in the final
stage of steelmaking. The chemical affinity between silicon and
oxygen is very high. Therefore, ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer
for steelmaking for precipitation and diffusion. Deoxidation.
Adding a certain amount of silicon to the steel can significantly
improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel.
Therefore, when smelting structural steel, tool steel, spring steel
and silicon steel for transformers, ferrosilicon is also used as an
alloying agent.

Ferro silicon Application
1. Ferro Silicon Alloy is used in steelmaking and foundries as a
source of silicon in production of carbon steels, stainless steels,
and other ferrous alloys for its deoxidizing properties, to prevent
loss of carbon from the molten steel (so called blocking the heat);
ferromanganese, spiegeleisen, silicon calcium, and many other
materials are used for the same purpose
2. Ferro Silicon Alloy can be used to make other ferroalloys.Ferro
Silicon Alloy is also sed for manufacture of silicon,
corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant ferrous silicon
alloys, and silicon steel for electromotors and transformer cores.
In manufacture of cast iron, ferrosilicon is used for inoculation
of the iron to accelerate graphitization. In arc welding,
ferrosilicon can be found in some electrode coatings.
